Woodalwn PTA

Our school has committed and courageous teachers and staff that we cherish.  The PTA has collaborated with Woodlawn's teachers and staff on many projects and events, as well as honored many teacher and staff grant requests.  We are hoping to do even more great things for our school next year but we need our community's help!

It Takes a Community is the Woodlawn PTA's end of the year fundraiser.  This is our investment into next year.  Our students, teachers and staff deserve more resources then they are getting and our PTA is working hard to make sure that that happens.  We are hoping to reach out  to the community and make this fundraiser more successful than ever, together!  We are in need of donations, involvement, sponsorship's, and â€‹attendance.  We are also reaching out to make stronger ties with our community.

We have a facebook page where the board can be reached http://www.facebook.com/groups/274178689361618/

The overall purpose of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children

Mission Statement

ABOUT US

Woodlawn elemetary's PTA is active and involved in our beloved school in North East Portland, OR.  Our president Cheryl Russel puts in over 40 hrs a  week supporting our students, teachers and staff.  The whole Woodlawn PTA board is committed to enhancing all the lives that Woodlawn elementary touches.  We have sponsored events at the school, field trips, emergency food and clothes for our students and their families and much more.

Fundraising is a challenge because 80% of our students are on free or reduced school lunches.  So, we are a community with the majority of us living below the poverty threshold.  We are a very diverse community filled with hard working families.

Woodlawn is the only  school in all of Portland Public School with a SPED program from k-8.  Our SPED students are a valued 20% of our student population.
